Distribuzione e habitat

Il genere è distribuito nell'mwegIndo-Pacifico, nel mwewmar dei Caraibi e nell'mwfaoceano Atlantico orientale subtropicalecite-ref-fishbase-2-0[2]. Nel mwgqmar Mediterraneo è presente la mwggspecie, mwgwM. sentuscite-ref-fishbase-2-1[2]cite-ref-3[3].

Vivono principalmente in ambienti mwjqcorallini, spesso in acque abbastanza profonde. Una specie (mwjgM. sentus) sembra avere almeno in alcuni stadi vitali abitudini mwjwepipelagiche o mwkaplanctonichecite-ref-fishbase-2-2[2].

Biologia

Le uova vengono custodite dal maschio in una tasca posta sulla superficie ventrale della codacite-ref-fishbase-2-3[2].
